Directions in Brief

The K-6 digital report cards are Word documents for teachers to use as the official report card at the end of trimesters. They are form documents, so information can only be entered into selected areas.

1. Download the document at right to your computer by right-clicking and choosing to SAVE. Mac computers can use Control-Click.

2. After typing in the default information for all report cards (school name, grade level, etc.) save a copy of the file for each student.
Note to Mac users: Some versions of Word on Mac have difficulty displaying the right column of the report card. If so, use the VIEW menu in Word to select DRAFT view. The layout won't look correct, but entering grades will go more smoothly, and it will still print fine.

3. Each trimester, fill out the grade information for the student and print a copy for parents.

4. Use the accompanying sticker for parent signature. Keep it until the end of the year.

5. Print a final report card for the student cumulative folders, and attach the signed sticker.

Special note about Spell-checking:
We recently discovered that spell-checking is disabled on Microsoft Word forms documents. Here are two options for dealing with the problem:

  1. Write your comments on a separate Word document that you can spell-check. Then copy-and-paste into the report card. If you have several "standard phrases" used on many report cards, having them all on one document to copy from may actually help.
  2. Unlock the form using the advanced directions. Then delete the small gray box that is used to enter the text, and type comments in. The spell-checking will work on text not entered into the form field when the document is unlocked.
