About the Ed1Stop portal
Ed1Stop is a web portal connecting VUSD staff and students to subscription-based services such as DiscoveryStreaming. On Ed1Stop, schools can post news, teachers can create bookmarks for students or themselves, and connect to other educational web sites.
Each teacher will recieve one log-in for themselves, and one for
their students to use from home or school. Once logged in, teachers can customize the page with
bookmarks for themselves and decide on the bookmarks for their students. See the manuals at right for more information about using the student portal.
Current Ed1Stop Subscription Services
- DiscoveryStreaming: videos, photos, articles and teachers' manuals from the Discovery Channel. (staff & teacher accounts only)
- Digital English for elementary schools. It offers lesson plans and instruction for teaching English Language Arts lessons.
- Digital Math: (secondary schools only) Video tutorials and testing for secondary level math.
- EBSCO: This service, formerly purchased for WCW and VHS, was not renewed in 2009 due to rising costs.
BrainPop
BrainPop (formerly part of Ed1Stop) is reached through direct links on Gateway page of each school. Signing on to Ed1Stop first is not required. BrainPop recently added a helpful Teacher Resource Area to their website, featuring activity pages, graphic organizers, classroom ideas and more tools. Some of the features require creating a free teaher account.
New to DiscoveryStreaming?
Formerly called UnitedStreaming, the service had a name change to reflect their ties to the Discovery Channel content. The first time you connect to DiscoveryStreaming via the ed1stop portal, you will be asked to fill out a short form. You only need to fill out the information for the boxes marked with an asterisk (*). The username and password are not important to remember because Ed1Stop will validate your access without the need of passwords the next time you return (so long as you connect to DiscoveryStreaming via Ed1Stop.) Entering your correct email address is important, however, as DiscoveryStreaming will send you messages regarding the progress of your students if you set up activities for them on the site.
