The Annual Young Image Makers Film Festival

A Festival of Shorts - Buckingham Independent Film FestivalThe three-day Buckingham Independent Film Festival is devoted to showcasing short films from a variety of genres and age ranges that are suitable to be viewed by all audiences. We are now accepting entries from filmmakers 12 years old and above. About the Foundation:
The Buckingham Independent Film Festival is part of the Buckingham Young Image Makers Foundation, which is a non—profit organization that supports the visionary efforts of the Buckingham Charter Magnet High School. This is a High School that promotes College Preparatory learning, Visual/Media Arts and Information Technology. It is the foundations mission to raise funds for the Visual/Media Arts programs by soliciting public and private support through educational grants, donations and other available resources; to provide opportunities for students to showcase their work; to maintain a state-of-the art facility so that students will receive practical experience applicable to current careers and learning platforms in the Visual/Media Arts industry; and to promote community awareness of and involvement in Visual/Media Arts programs. All the proceeds from the festival go directly to the school in order fulfill these objectives.

What is the event? A local film festival featuring “shorts” which are short films of 10 minutes duration or less, submitted by filmmakers 12 years and older nationwide, in the areas of documentary, comedy, drama, or animation G-PG rating

When? Thursday, Friday, Saturday, April 5,6,& 7, 2007

Where? The event will be held at Brenden Theatres, 531 Davis Street, Vacaville, CA 95687

What will take place? Film shorts selected from entries to the film festival will be shown, culminating in the best of each category shown on Saturday evening with awa! rds and ceremonies appropriate for the occasion being given. G-PG rating

Admission cost/ ticket prices: Ticket prices will be $5.oo per day

Why is this event important? This event gives the young and beginning filmmaker, along side more experienced filmmakers, an opportunity to have their work viewed on a real movie screen and to see other works, while in a supportive, yet somewhat competitive event

4th Annual International Independent Film Festival
On March 10th, 11th and 12th, Buckingham hosted its 4th Annual International Film Festival with this years theme being "A Festival of Shorts".  The festival was expanded to include filmmakers of all ages nationwide and was a three-day event—March 10-12th.  We anticipated a large number of student and adult entries from all over the country and even abroad.  Submissions, including a VHS cassettes or DVD needed to be postmarked no later than Friday, January 28th, 2005.  Applicants were  notified by February 5th, 2005 if their film had been accepted for the festival.  The festival of film shorts was premiered at the magnificent Brenden Theatres in Vacaville, California.
